Yuka is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia with extensive experience supporting school-aged children (ages 5–12), parents, families, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. She works collaboratively with individuals and families navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD-related behavioural challenges, emotional regulation, parent-child conflict, family reunification and mediation, family stress, life transitions, and cross-cultural concerns. Yuka is deeply committed to creating a supportive and compassionate space where clients feel understood, empowered, and equipped to move forward through life’s challenges.
In addition to her work with children and families, Yuka also supports international students and newcomers of all ages. Having once been an international student herself at Vancouver Island University (VIU), she understands firsthand the emotional and cultural adjustments that can come with studying and living in a new country. Her lived experience allows her to connect authentically with clients facing cross-cultural stress, identity challenges, isolation, and transition-related difficulties.
Yuka’s professional philosophy is grounded in her motto: “Walking through the challenge together.” She believes meaningful change happens through a balance of acceptance, connection, and action. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to the unique needs of each client. Yuka integrates a range of evidence-based and culturally responsive therapeutic approaches, including Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Collaborative Problem Solving, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Play Therapy, Mindfulness, Morita Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling.
Yuka completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Vancouver Island University, followed by a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Guidance Studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She also holds Master’s degrees in Clinical Counselling from City University of Seattle and in Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling from UBC. Before joining Campbell & Fairweather Psychology Group, Yuka gained over 15 years of experience working in mental health and family support services, including with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), as well as nonprofit and private family service organizations in Greater Vancouver.
